Campus Christmas markets  

Drop by between lectures as both our campuses are transformed into a Winter Wonderland as we celebrate Christmas! Stop by Union Square on Tuesday 5 December, or de Havilland on Wednesday 6 December for festive food, carols and goodies. Who knows... A special guest may even make an appearance!  

This event is completely FREE and is one you do not want to miss - so bring a jacket, and some friends and explore what our Christmas Market has to offer.  

  

  

Christmas at St Albans Cathedral 

Want to experience a traditional Christmas gathering set within the stunning St Albans Cathedral? Join the Hospice of St Francis on Sunday 2 December, for an afternoon of festive carols and Christmas readings. The concert will feature special performances from talented local choirs, thoughtful festive readings and plenty of opportunity for merry audience participation! Why not head into town for a 2-for-1 festive cocktail or mocktail after?  

   

London lights  

Christmas in London can be a truly enchanting time to visit, and at a 20-minute journey from campus, it couldn’t be more convenient to get some festive spirit. It has some of the biggest and best Christmas decorations in the country, from ice rinks and fake snow to towering Christmas trees, you won’t be disappointed!  

Head to Piccadilly Circus to take a walk down Regent Street to spot the “Spirit of Christmas” angel, enjoy the shop front decorations down Old Bond Street and stop by Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland for some festive activities. If that’s not enough, head to Oxford Street to gaze at the 300,000 stars while doing your Christmas shopping! There is so much to see at Christmas time in London; check out this walking guide so you don’t miss any of the hidden gems!  

  

Magic at Hatfield House:  

There’s an exciting celebration going on at Hatfield Park this Christmas! For the first time, the beautiful manor house will be hosting Fantastical Christmas Revels, a celebration of Hatfield Park’s role in Queen Elizabeth I’s childhood. Venture through traditional yuletide merriment, see Tudor festivities and immerse yourself in a sparkling Christmas fit for royalty. There will be everything from carol singers and festive drinks to extra special Christmas gifts and the best festive decorations you can expect. And better yet- there's a special discount exclusively for UH students!  

Christmas trips from campus  

Our student events calendar is constantly being updated with events and excursions organised by staff within the university. This month the SU is taking a group of students sightseeing in Bath to visit the world-famous Christmas market. Explore and experience the city whilst enjoying mulled wine, carols and Christmas treats. The coach leaves from College Lane campus and tickets are less than half the price it would cost you on the train!  

Another christmassy highlight we have on offer is full of festive fun in Hyde Park. Join the group travelling from campus to London by coach for high-adrenaline rides, festive treats and thousands of sparkling lights! Why not buy a ticket and make a friend along the way?
