International Women's Day 2020

It’s International Women’s Day on 8 March! This is a time to celebrate all the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women throughout history. International Women’s Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action!

To mark this year’s celebrations, we are shining the spotlight on some of the inspirational women who form part of our community here at Herts. We want to also take this opportunity to showcase an amazing programme that takes place here at Herts, the Sprint Women’s Development Programme.
Every year, groups of female undergraduates take part in the Sprint women’s development programme at the University of Hertfordshire. This ground-breaking professional development course helps women to develop their careers goals, raise aspirations, establish positive wellbeing and make the best of all opportunities presented to them.

This year, at the end of the programme, one group wrote a poem to reflect how they now feel about themselves. To celebrate International Women’s Day, and all the incredible women in our university community, we have created a short film featuring this poem, ‘A Woman Arose.’

Watch the film and read all about some of the amazing women in our community here!
